Examples of recent projects undertaken include:
A Medicine Management Project
The client had launched a new generation branded ethical drug to treat an age and lifestyle related condition and wished to:
Assess the effectiveness of community pharmacists in identifying and referring patients that could be switched to a new prescription product
The client wished to assess the effectiveness of community pharmacists in identifying and referring patients whose condition control was poor to their GP (using "near-patient testing" to establish the patient's degree of condition control).
The project aim was to uncover those patients with poor condition control, counselling them on improving control, and also counselling them to return to their GP.
The client expected a proportion of patients so referred, to have their medication changed, some of whom could be candidates for transfer onto to their new generation drug.
Information Support to patients: Medicines Management Project
A client wished to support an estbalished but relatively low volume branded ethical product for chronic therapy of a sensitive condition via an Information Club for patients.
Prior to the project patients were recruited only by invitation form printed on the Pack Information leaflet (PIL), few of which were ever returned.
The project aim was to test whether recruitment to the information club could be increased by the counselling of every patient prescribed the drug by the dispensing pharmacist.
Pharmacists were briefed to personally encourage patients to join the free information club, in order that patients could better manage their sensitive condition & thereby improve the quality of their life.
The project outcome indicated that pharmacists could significantly influence patients (and carers) towards joining such Information Clubs, and thereby increase successful long term therapy.
